Buc-ee’s opened a new, 74,000-square-foor convenience store in Hillsboro, Texas, on April 21.

The location, at 165 State Highway 77, offers 120 fueling positions.

The mega-store also features signature Buc-ee’s items such as Texas barbeque, homemade fudge, kolaches, Beaver Nuggets, jerky and fresh pastries, along with other snack, meal and drink options.

“Hillsboro is one of the best forks in the road we’ve ever seen, and they have a beautiful, historic courthouse as a bonus,” Stan Beard, director of real estate for Buc-ee’s, said at the groundbreaking in January. “Whether you’re headed to Fort Worth and West Texas or Dallas and East Texas, you can make Buc-ee’s your stop, coming and going. The City of Hillsboro and Hill County have been such great partners, and we look forward to being a great neighbor for years to come.”

Buc-ee’s Hillsboro will bring at least 200 jobs to the area, with starting pay beginning above minimum wage and offering full benefits, a 6% matching 401k and three weeks of paid vacation.

  • Buc-ee’s is No. 153 on CSP’s 2023 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by store count.

With the opening of Buc-ee’s Hillsboro, the company will operate 49 stores across Texas and the South.

Since beginning its multi-state expansion in 2019, Buc-ee’s has opened travel centers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee and recently its first in Colorado.

The company initially planned to open the Hillsboro location in January, but it was delayed by construction issues. And Buc-ee’s had hoped to open the store in time for the April 8 solar eclipse to capitalize on the increase in traffic, but it was not ready in time. (Buc-ee’s provided free eclipse glasses to public grade schools in Texas.)

Buc-ee’s Hillsboro will bring at least 200 jobs to the area, the company said, with starting pay beginning above minimum wage, with full benefits, a 6% matching 401k and three weeks of paid vacation.

Founded in 1982, Lake Jackson, Texas-based Buc-ee’s is known for its clean bathrooms, large number of fueling positions, friendly service, branded apparel, signature foods and snacks—and of course, Bucky the Beaver.
