The School Nutrition Association (SNA) has written a letter to U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue offering suggestions on how to best handle emergency feeding in the event that schools are closed due to the coronavirus.

The association suggests the government take steps such as waiving requirements for congregate feeding to allow grab-and-go service; expanding eligibility for the Summer Food Service Program; permitting meal delivery to satellite sites so schools can deliver meals to locations throughout their communities; and more.

As the coronavirus continues to spread throughout the country, operators are looking at how they can best keep themselves and their diners safe, with many taking similar precautions as they would during an outbreak of the flu or common cold.
