To build awareness about San Antonio restaurants, a group of us got together and formed a Chefs Coalition. We meet on Fridays at one member's restaurant to talk about marketing ideas, sourcing and other common issues. One result is that we created a network of local suppliers and an internal CSA [community supported agriculture program]. Farmers deliver produce to one central location, and all the chefs come to pick up their orders, eliminating the middleman. We're also holding a charity dinner cooked by coalition members to benefit the local farmers.
