Comp sales at Dave & Buster’s rose 8.8 percent year over year during the third quarter, growing on increased walk-in sales and a 3.9 percent gain in special-events business, the casual-dining chain said Tuesday.

Total revenues at the chain increased 17.9 percent year over year during Q3, to $192.8 million.

Dave & Buster’s execs said on an earnings call that the chain is continuing to invest in unit remodels and aim for growth in its higher-margin amusement segment through the addition of such features as its D&B Sports lounges, which are now in more than 70 percent of the chain’s restaurants.

“We believe that our continued investment in games, which featured the exclusive introduction of Angry Birds at the start of the quarter, is helping to fuel our strong amusement business,” CFO Brian Jenkins said.

The chain raised its guidance for the full fiscal year, expecting same-store sales growth in the range of 8.5 percent to 9 percent.
