ID NEWS: IFDA bar code survey to be released shortly; progress seen

The International Foodservice Distributors Association (IFDA), Falls Church, VA, anticipates releasing the results of its annual bar code survey within the next two weeks, according to Mark Allen, director, Efficient Foodservice Response (EFR).

Preliminary results indicate that manufacturers have made tremendous progress in placing codes on cases, Allen notes. "As of four years ago, 54% of manufacturers coded cases. Last year 72% of them indicated they did, and the percentage probably will be in the high 70s this year. That means approximately four of five cases will have bar codes."
