Multifoods gets royalty-free use of Pillsbury trademarks, additional brands, as part of General Mi

International Multifoods Corp., Minneapolis, has gained royalty-free use of the Pillsbury and Doughboy trademarks on the desserts and baking mixes it has purchased from The Pillsbury Co., under an amended purchase agreement.

Multifoods gets the Pillsbury desserts, specialty products and non-custom foodservice baking mixes, as well as General Mills Inc.'s U.S. Robin Hood brand, as part of the deal that has enabled General Mills to purchase Pillsbury from Diageo PLC, London.

The amended deal, aimed to address Federal Trade Commission antitrust concerns, also gives Multifoods--at no additional cost--the Pet brand of evaporated milk and dry creamer, Farmhouse brand of rice and pasta side dishes, and Softasilk, La Pina and Red Band flour brands.

In addition, Diageo has guaranteed $200 million of Multifoods
