As of next month, dogs may join their owners when dining al fresco at New York City restaurants, the result of new regulations issued by the city’s health department Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.
The regulations, which take effect in 30 days, allow licensed and vaccinated canines to be permitted in outdoor dining spaces, the AP says.
Per a state law signed in October, municipalities can create their own rules about dogs and outdoor dining, and eateries are able to restrict dogs from their patios if they so choose.
Canines must also be leashed and accompanied by a diner.
