Starbucks adds omega-3 option, snacks, BBQ sandwich

Starbucks has added an omega-3-rich packaged meal as part of the coffee chain’s ongoing effort to provide more food options.

Also new on the menu is a barbecued-brisket sandwich, intended for heartier appetites, and additional branded snack items “curated” from local and national suppliers.

The new packaged meal, an extension of Starbucks’ Bistro Box line, features a cream cheese spread made with smoked wild-caught Alaskan salmon; edamame hummus; a trail mix infused with omega-3 oils, which are believed to help circulation; and wheat-free crackers.

In test is another Bistro Box consisting of mozzarella wrapped in Prosciutto, lemon-artichoke dip, sea-salt-topped crackers, olive oil, bell peppers, grapes and a chocolate-truffle bar.
