Yum!’s Q4 comps rise across all brands

Same-store sales rose for the Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut chains during Q4 as their parent aimed to spur growth by expanding unit count.

Taco Bell’s comps rose by 4 percent, KFC’s by 3 percent and Pizza Hut’s by 1 percent year over year, parent company Yum! Brands said.

Total revenues at Yum declined by 1 percent, to $3.9 billion.

“I’m pleased with the positive sales momentum we generated across the majority of Yum in the fourth quarter,” CEO Greg Creed said in a statement, noting that the company is leaning into the “bright spot” of new-unit growth.

The company added more than 2,400 new restaurants across the globe during 2015, equating to six units daily, Creed said. Nearly half of those were added during Q4.

Yum, which has long been burdened by sales declines in its China segment, is spinning off that division of its business later this year.
