Specifically, Silbermann said, the funds will support "scientific research to investigate contamination sources and to develop protocols and solutions aimed at prevention."
In his statement, which also welcomed the FDA's draft final "Guide to Minimize Microbial Food Safety Hazards of Fresh-cut Fruits and Vegetables," Silbermann said the PMA and its members are committed to providing consumers at supermarkets and restaurants with safe, nutritious produce.
