Sciara of Memphis Joins Produce Alliance

In 1988, with an ever increasing foodservice market, Memphis, TN-based Charlie Sciara & Son Produce moved to its current 50,000-sq.-ft. Almost tripling its warehouse and cold-storage size, Sciara, which has been in business for 64 years, was able to provide its customers with more service. Simultaneously, Sciara was able to expand its inventory and add value-added prepared produce items.

As an approved distributor for several managed produce programs, the specialty distributor is inspected by a third party service. It has an on-site laboratory with a microbiologist on staff.

Pete Sciara came into the family business in 1974 after completing his pharmacy degree and practicing for several years. Following the death of his father, he took over the family business, renaming it to what it is called now: Charlie Sciara & Son Produce Co., Inc.
