Walsh of Maines is Overall Chairman of Next IFDA Conference & Expo

The planning committee for the second conference and exposition sponsored by the International Foodservice Distributors Association here was held in Dallas last week. The attendees selected several chairpersons for the event.

The conference will be held Oct. 7-9 in Louisville, KY, and will offer more than 40 educational workshops as well as an expo with more than 120 suppliers of goods and services designed for and utilized by foodservice distributors.

Walsh joined Maines in 1996, serving as the vice president of human resources until being promoted to senior vice president and chief administrative officer in 2002. In January of 2004, he was appointed to his current position and has responsibility for the day-to-day activities of the operating companies.

Gary Cullen, vice president for distribution services for Sysco Corp., will serve as the expo chairman. Cullen has more than thirty years experience in the food distribution industry managing both private and third party fleets. In his current role with Sysco, Cullen is responsible for the operations of the nation's largest private transportation fleet with more than 7,000 tractors, 1,300 straight trucks and 9,000 trailers, as well as 170 locations throughout the United States and Canada.

Tony Canty, vice president of IT and cfo for Labatt Food Service, will take the role for the second year as educational chairman. Canty has been with Labatt for 22 years. He has been the vice president of information systems since 1985, and vice president of accounting since 1995. He is the primary author of Labatt software systems, more than 3,000 applications all written in-house. Labatt has been twice recognized for innovation by ID magazine and in April 1999 received its Innovator of the Year with a focus on the software solutions the company has developed.

"We are privileged to have these industry leaders associated with the 2007 conference and exposition," noted Steve Potter, IFDA's senior vice president of industry relations. "Their knowledge, many years of experience, and deep dedication to the industry will be invaluable as we move forward in developing this great event."

IFDA's first Distribution Conference & Expo in October 2006 in Dallas was hailed by the industry as a milestone and major success.
