ID NEWS: Ahold revises some of amended figures released last week

As a result of what were explained as inadvertent "typing errors," Royal Ahold, Zaandam, The Netherlands, has revised some of the sales figures released last week (ID Management Report, 5/22/03). The corrections are not related to Ahold's U.S. Foodservice (USF) subsidiary, the Columbia, MD, based national broadliner.

The unofficial results understated 2002 sales in Europe by $46.8 million (USD). South American sales for 2001 were slightly understated as well.

Analysts at Oyens & Van Eeghen told the Wall Street Journal that the corrections are a "confirmation that accounting and internal processes are still under stress."
