ID NEWS: Maines joins IMA

Maines Paper & Food Service, Inc., Conklin, NY, has joined Independent Marketing Alliance (IMA), a Houston-based member-owned regional broadliner organization.

Other members include: CONCO Foodservice, Metairie, LA; The IJ Company, Knoxville, TN (ID's 2003 GDO); Reinhart FoodService, La Crosse, WI; and, most recently, Shamrock Foods, Phoenix. With the addition of Maines, IMA companies represent more than $5 billion in purchasing power generated by 27 distribution centers serving parts of the 48 contiguous U.S. states, as well as parts of the Caribbean and Europe, according to Bob Planck, IMA president.

Maines, which rang up $1.1 billion last year, has resigned its affiliation with Atlanta-based UniPro, a buying and marketing group, as a consequence of the new affiliation. (See "IMA announces independence," ID Management Report, 2/13/03.)
