More Foodservice Distributors Provide Electronic Ordering with RTIconnect

ATLANTA (Jan. 13) - Two major foodservice distributors have joined with Atlanta-based Restaurant Technology, Inc. (RTI), to provide electronic ordering to restaurants using RTIconnect™, RTI’s Web-based back office software for restaurants. RTI has added systems distributor MBM Food Service and broadliner Cheney Brothers, Inc., to its growing list of RTI supply chain partners.

The participation of these two distributors allows their clients using RTIconnect to download the distributors’ electronic order guides and transmit their food orders via the Internet. These partner interfaces were added at the request of Arby’s and Offerdahl’s Café Grill restaurants, who use RTIconnect to control food costs. RTIconnect now interfaces with 22 major foodservice distributors.

As part of its food cost controls, RTIconnect automatically calculates a suggested food order, taking into consideration all of the factors that influence the ordering decision: forecasted sales, inventory on hand, inventory ordered but not yet delivered, and optional safety factors. The manager can adjust the order if needed, and then send it directly to the distributor through RTIconnect.

Headquartered in Rocky Mount, N.C., MBM is the largest privately-owned custom food service distributor in the country. Cheney is headquartered in Riviera Beach, Florida, and is the largest independent foodservice distributor in the Southeast.
