The Culinary Institute of America has named Fernando Salazar managing director of the school’s San Antonio campus, effective June 1.
Salazar, formerly vice president of food and beverage for Wyndham Hotels, succeeds David Kellaway, who alerted the CIA of his desire to move out of the area.
Salazar began his foodservice career as a dishwasher at age 14, after his family had immigrated to the United States from Ecuador. He has been active in the CIA for years, having served on the executive committee of the school’s Latin Cuisines Advisory Council.
