Domino’s adds salads to the mix

In a bid to battle the veto vote, Domino’s has debuted three new entree salads at its U.S. locations.

The salads, which sell for $5.99 when purchased with one of the chain’s “mix and match” menu items, come in the iterations of Classic Garden, Chicken Caesar and Chicken Apple Pecan. They are produced and prepackaged by fresh food company Ready Pac Foods.

"Now everybody can be happy on pizza night," Joe Jordan, Domino's CMO, said in a statement. "There's no shame in wanting salad when everyone else wants pizza, especially now that Domino's has found a perfect way to offer even more options for customers across the country.”

The pizza chain had previously menued salads at about one-fifth of its domestic units, according to Reuters.

Domino’s comps grew 9.7% in its most recent fiscal quarter, the highest same-store sales gain noted among public restaurant chains during that time frame.
