Veteran concept creator Gene Street is hatching a fried-chicken concept in collaboration with his family, the Dallas Business Journal reported.

The Street’s Fine Chicken prototype will fire up its fryers in the same building where Street opened the original Black-eyed Pea in 1975. Since that time, Street has developed a number of concepts, including Good Eats and Cool River.

Among the intended signatures of Street’s Fine Chicken are Chicken Lollipops, or drumsticks rolled in a Grand Marnier-based sauce, and the Sin Killin’ Thigh Sandwich, a chicken thigh and havarti cheese sandwich spiced with Peri Peri aioli.

The style of service and the opening date were not disclosed.

Street has served as CEO of Prufrock Restaurants, a subsequent owner of Black-eyed Pea.

His daughter, Mariel Street, is the founder of Liberty Burger, a Dallas-based concept with six locations.
