McDonald’s plans rollout of ‘cleaner’ McNuggets: Report

McDonald’s plans to offer a “cleaner,” less-processed version of its Chicken McNuggets nationwide by the time the Olympics start this summer, Crain’s Chicago Business reported.

The new nuggets are currently being tested in about 140 stores in the Pacific Northwest. The updated version is marketed as being free of artificial preservatives.

According to Crain’s unnamed sources, a simpler recipe is used for the updated nuggets. Ingredients that sound as if they came from a chemist have been replaced with components like rice starch and lemon juice solids, Crain’s reported.

The Summer Olympics begin August 5 in Rio de Janeiro.
