Papa John’s launches pizza-replacement deal

Papa John’s has doubled down on its commitment to “better ingredients” by offering customers a free pizza if they’re unhappy with their order.

Starting this week, unsatisfied customers can call their local Papa John’s within 30 minutes of their original pickup or delivery to receive another pizza free of charge, the chain said. Pizzas eligible for a free replacement include those that are cold, damaged, under- or overcooked, or have too few or the wrong type of toppings, the chain clarifies on its “quality guarantee” webpage.

“Papa John’s didn’t need a ‘quality guarantee,’ but if we want to live by our commitment to provide ‘better ingredients and better pizza,’ we have to be able to deliver,” CEO John Schnatter said in a statement.

If customers have eaten more than two slices of their original pizza, the deal is void, the chain says, noting that the guarantee does not extend to desserts, side items or drinks.

Papa John’s recently announced that it would be shifting its ad strategy in an effort to better compete with other national pizza chains.

Earlier this year, the chain said it had removed all artificial flavors and colors from its menu, and is in the process of ridding chicken raised with antibiotics from its supply chain.
