Starbucks has struck a deal with The New York Times to provide a free newsfeed to members of the coffee giant’s loyalty program.
The news headlines and features will be readable via Starbucks’ smartphone app, providing another reason for customers to look at the app. Access will begin next year, Starbucks said.
Although Times headlines and story synopses are visible on the newspaper’s website, a subscription is needed to have full access via smartphone to the content.
As part of the arrangement, consumers will be rewarded with loyalty points for buying a Times print or digital subscription.
