Corporate Chef, US Foods Kansas City Awarded Mentor of the Year

WICHITA, KS (October 20, 2011)—The Kansas Restaurant and Hospitality Association (KRHA) recently honored six hospitality industry leaders at the Evening of Hospitality Awards and Fundraising Event on Monday, October 17, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Wichita. This event brings together influential hospitality leaders to highlight the accomplishments made within the industry.

KRHA annually recognizes members who have shown tremendous support for its mission, the hospitality industry, and their community. This year Russ Muehlberger, Corporate Chef, US Foods Kansas City Division was honored for his efforts in mentoring students seeking careers in the hospitality industry. “He has a passion for the hospitality industry and we want to thank him for generously sharing that passion with our ProStart students.” said KRHA Chairman Scott Redler of Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers.

“We are very excited to honor Mr. Muehlberger with this award” said Redler. “He has given so much to the ProStart program over the years and we wanted to recognize him for his commitment.” ProStart is a school-to-career program that teaches culinary and hospitality management skills to high school students.

Muehlberger is extremely involved with the ProStart culinary program at Olathe North High School. He has volunteered his time to teach in the classroom and sits on the advisory board for the program. “[The students] have a tremendous amount of respect for him. As the instructor of the program I could not ask for a more professional person to serve on the advisory board or be a mentor to the students. The time and effort he takes from his busy days to give back are Priceless and without a doubt, it is very much appreciated!” said Mike Chrostowski, Olathe District School’s culinary instructor.
