Pie Five has named Wendy Moats—a former operations director for Starbucks—senior vice president of operations for the customizable pizza chain

As SVP, Moats will be charged with fostering growth, improving training and facilitating communication between franchisees via a new operations structure, Pie Five said.

She will also have a major role in many of the chain’s upcoming efforts, such as its debut of online ordering with an integrated loyalty component.

“With more than 25 years of multi-unit leadership experience in retail and restaurant companies and a proven history of increasing sales, minimizing costs and delivering outstanding customer experiences, [Moats] is uniquely qualified to lead us through current and future opportunities for the Pie Five brand," Randy Gier, CEO of Pie Five’s parent company, said in a statement.

Prior to her role at Pie Five, Moats was in charge of improving operations and profitability related to food ordering for Starbucks’ Americas segment.
