Starbucks makes a bid for brunch

Starbucks is courting brunch fans at select Pacific Northwest units, where it is testing a range of brunch fare from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

The 78-restaurant test includes items such as French toast, quiche and Belgian waffles with blueberries, according to GrubStreet, which learned of the test from unofficial Starbucks news site StarbucksMelody.com.

Like many of Starbucks’ other food offerings, brunch options are delivered to units premade and warmed on premise, GrubStreet says.

Brunch isn’t the chain’s only recent effort to expand business in between dayparts—earlier this summer it debuted its seasonal Sunset Menu, a twist on happy hour that offered a selection of desserts after 3 p.m. only.
