Starbucks completes domestic rollout of Mobile Order & Pay

Starbucks mobile pay

An upswing in sales from phone-toting consumers has prompted Starbucks to complete the U.S. rollout of its Mobile Order & Pay service more than three months ahead of schedule.

Users of the Starbucks app can now order and pay for coffee and food ahead of time and pick it up from a station inside. The line-cutting service is available from all 7,400 U.S. stores.

Starbucks said it will start rolling out the capability to selected stores in Canada and the United Kingdom next month.

Management had originally set a Jan. 1 deadline for the rollout, but accelerated the introduction because of what they described as a strongly positive impact on sales. Testing of the Mobile Order & Pay began in December.
