Sysco Names New Exec Vice Presidents at Three Locations



Donald W. Tarwater has been named executive vice president at Sysco Food Services of Baltimore, LLC, a broadline foodservice distribution subsidiary located in Jessup, MD. Tarwater, currently serves as senior vice president of that operation.

Tarwater began his Sysco career in 1991 as assistant controller for the company's Houston operation. He progressed to controller that same year and in 1992 he joined Sysco's corporate office as a member of the operations review team. Tarwater relocated to the Baltimore operation in 1994 as controller, advanced to vice president of finance in 1997 and was promoted to his current position in 2000. He is a certified public accountant and currently serves as chairman of the finance expertise committee for Sysco's Best Business Practices.

Tarwater was born in Russellville, AL, and raised in Madison, AL. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1981, and the University of Houston, where he earned a Master of Business Administration degree in 1993. He and his wife, Cindy, have two daughters and reside in Elkridge, MD.

John E. Nolan has been named executive vice president at Sysco Food Services of Portland, Inc., a broadline foodservice subsidiary located in Wilsonville, OR. Nolan currently serves as senior vice president of merchandising at that operation.

Nolan, 47, began his Sysco career in 1996 as a food service specialist at the company's Chicago operation. He relocated to the Portland subsidiary in 1998 as a non-foods merchandising director, advanced to senior director of merchandising in 2001 and next became vice president of merchandising the following year. In 2005 he was promoted to his current position. Prior to joining Sysco, he worked in the foodservice industry for 14 years in various sales and management positions.

Nolan was born in Chicago and raised in Oak Forest, IL. In 1984 he earned a culinary degree from Washburn Culinary Institute, located in Chicago. He and his wife, Ann, have a son and two daughters and reside in Tigard, OR.

Wilfred J. Cartier III has been named executive vice president at Sysco Food Services of Cincinnati, LLC. Mr. Cartier, who currently serves as senior vice president of sales at that operation, will assume his new position effective July 2, 2006, the beginning of Sysco's fiscal year 2007.

Cartier, 45, began his foodservice career in 1988 with SM Flickinger, an upstate New York broadline distributor and a subsidiary of Scrivner, Inc. After Sysco acquired Scrivner's foodservice operations in 1991, he served as a marketing associate for the company's Albany operation, where he advanced to district sales manager in 1995 and then regional vice president of sales in 1997. Cartier was promoted to vice president of territory sales at the Albany operation in 2000 before relocating to the Cincinnati company in April of 2005 to serve as vice president of sales. In September of 2005 he was promoted to his current position.

Cartier was born and raised in Hadley, NY. In 1982 he received his certification in advanced management from the State University of New York College of Technology. He and his wife, Jane, have a grown son and grown daughter and reside in West Chester, Ohio.

All of the positions become effective on July 2, the beginning of Sysco's fiscal year 2007.
