Mountain Mike’s Pizza on Thursday named longtime industry executive Jim Metevier the company’s new president and chief operating officer.

Metevier most recently was president of Biscuitville and also spent time at the quick-service brand operator Yum Brands, where he was at one point the chief operating officer for KFC in the U.S.

At the Newport Beach, Calif.-based Mountain Mike’s, Metevier will be responsible for growing system and franchisee sales and profitability, operations, brand marketing and development and “overall guest experience.”

He joins a chain that has grown to nearly 200 locations in California, Oregon, Nevada and Utah with a menu of pizza, wings and sides. The company expects to open 20 new units this year. Metevier cited the chain’s positive sales momentum and new unit growth.

“But what really sold me was the incredible food, dynamic leadership team and dedicated group of franchise partners,” he said in a statement.
