New hires at Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe, Scooter's Coffee and Black Rock Coffee Bar

Executive Summary

Birmingham, Ala.-based Taziki’s Mediterranean Café has two new hires, both of whom are military veterans: Robert Brown was named vice president of operations, and Lynn Edwards was named vice president of Human resources and people operations for the chain.

Brown previously led the franchise operations and operations services team at Huddle House for five years. Before that he worked in leadership at Melting Pot, after spending 22 years in franchise support with Yum Brands. Edwards, meanwhile, served most recently as vice president of field human resources with CKE Restaurants Holdings, the parent of Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. Before that, Edwards was with Cracker Barrel Old Country Store.

Tim Arpin has been named chief sales officer for the drive-thru Scooter’s Coffee. This was a promotion for Arpin, who served previously as vice president of franchise sales for the brand. Before joining Scooter’s, Arpin was vice president of franchise development for ServiceMaster Brands.

Mark Davis is the new CEO at Black Rock Coffee Bar, it was announced last week. He is a former CEO of Tokyo Joe’s, and also has served in leadership at Bagel Brands and Panera Bread.

And former Dunkin’ executive Paul Carbone was named CFO of Panera Brands Inc., the parent of Panera Bread, Caribou Coffee and Einstein Bros.

Subway named Douglas Fry president of North America, a role he will step into on Sept. 5. Fry replaces Trevor Haynes, who became president of North America in 2019. In other changes, Subway also named Carrie Walsh, the former chief marketing officer, to the role of president of EMEA. Mike Kehoe, the former president of EMEA, is returning to the U.S. to be global chief development officer, a newly created role.

In addition, Subway promoted Cristina Wells to senior vice president of U.S. marketing.

John Dillon has been removed from his role as president of Denny’s Corp. He was named president last year after serving as chief marketing officer. He spent more than 16 years with the Denny’s brand.
