Duck Donuts has now bookended the Future 50, falling from first place in last year's ranking to 50th this time around. Earlier this year, the donut chain debuted a new prototype it hopes will offer flexibility to franchisees while boosting customer satisfaction. The new look is also suitable for smaller footprints, making it possible to open a unit of the chain in just 1,000 square feet.
