In a year marked by mainstream restaurants’ entry into delivery, customers showed how adventurous they’re becoming when ordering in, more than doubling their orders of items like tacos al Pastor and spicy miso ramen, according to the GrubHub/Seamless third-party service.
The deliverer reported handling 277 percent more orders for tacos made with shawarma-style meat than it did in 2014. The increase for the ramen dish was 220 percent.
Orders for the Indian staple chicken tikka masala jumped 136 percent, while customers requested delivery of tonkotsu (i.e., white-soup) ramen 133 more time.
The most familiar item on GrubHub/Seamless’ list of the 10 fastest-growing delivery items might be deep-dish pizza, with a 101 rise in orders.
