Crafting Vegan Meals for The Whole Family

Plant-based and vegetarian/vegan options have been trending for a while now, and that trend is showing no signs of slowing—according to Technomic’s 2021 Center of the Plate: Seafood and Vegetarian Consumer Trend Report, 42% of consumers say they eat a vegetarian or vegan meal at least once a week, up from 34% in 2018. Despite this, though, most consumers don’t follow a vegan or vegetarian diet full-time. For operators interested in appealing to both consumers who do follow a vegetarian/vegan diet as well as those who don’t, menuing dishes with universal appeal is key.

Alfredo sauce, for instance, is a familiar, comforting choice for many diners—whether it’s cascading over fettuccini noodles, used a base for a white pizza or served as a topping for proteins. Rich, creamy flavor and versatile use makes alfredo sauce a kitchen staple, but traditionally, it hasn’t been vegan-friendly. Now, however, operators can enjoy offering a vegan alfredo option without adding a lot of extra work to the kitchen staff’s prep list. MINOR’S® Vegan Alfredo Sauce offers heat-and-serve flavor that appeals to both vegans/vegetarians and omnivores.

This velvety smooth sauce—made with a base of oats—can be used in an array of dishes that will please the whole family, from steak-loving dads to veg-curious teens and everyone in between. Need inspiration? Try these dishes:

  • Alfredo Creamed Fregula: This tasty pasta dish combines fregula—a couscous-esque pasta—with Sweet Earth Mindful Chik’n, onion, spinach, red bell pepper and asparagus and is topped with MINOR’S® Vegan Alfredo Sauce. It’s a delicious option for lunch or dinner, and if diners want meat added, simply use chicken instead of Sweet Earth Mindful Chik’n.
  • Creamy Chipotle Enchiladas: MINOR’S® Vegan Alfredo Sauce is perfect for global dishes, too. Blend the sauce with chipotles in adobo sauce, and pour it over tortillas stuffed with Sweet Earth Mindful Chik’n, beans and rice or veggies.
  • Chorizo Frittata: At breakfast, use MINOR’S® Vegan Alfredo Sauce to top off a soy-rizo or chorizo frittata that’s packed with spinach and high-protein eggs.
  • Sweet Potato Alfredo Mulligatawny: A gluten-free vegetarian choice, this soup blends sauteed vegetables, roasted sweet potatoes and smooth MINOR’S® Vegan Alfredo Sauce.

MINOR’S® Vegan Alfredo Sauce adds creamy, savory flavor to an array of dishes, from plant-based to meat-free to omnivorous. To learn more and to get a free sample of this tasty sauce, click here.
