New McDonald's restaurant offers Australian fries as part of global menu

McDonald’s is getting ready to move into its new Chicago headquarters this spring. But one thing is already moving in this week: a new McDonald’s.

The burger giant on Wednesday will open the new restaurant on the ground floor of the headquarters, in the city’s West Loop neighborhood. The restaurant is 6,000 square feet and will feature the chain’s Experience of the Future, which includes self-order kiosks, table service, McDelivery and mobile order and pay.

It will also feature a menu of items available at McDonald’s in other countries. The first items will come from Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, France and Brazil.

Here’s a look at the items.

The third-pound Angus burger is topped with a glazed poppy and sesame seed bun and features lettuce, onion, cheese, bacon and smoky Angus sauce.

This sandwich features fried, marinated chicken breast on a sesame seed bun with lettuce.

The fries are served with melted cheese and bacon bits.

The salad includes pasta, roasted tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, arugula leaves and crispy or grilled chicken and is dressed in balsamic and served with a breadstick.

This salad includes baby kale, romaine and spring lettuce topped with grape tomatoes, dried cranberries and sliced apples, crispy or grilled chicken and is served with a breadstick.

The dessert is vanilla soft serve mixed with strawberry sauce and chocolate-covered coconut bites.
