Food Authority Launches New Cash & Carry Service

The service, aimed in part at capturing business that might otherwise go to warehouse clubs, lets customers call and/or fax in their order to the “Cash & Carry Concierge,” have it packed and ready for pickup within 30 minutes.

The convenience of being able to drive right up to the warehouse and be met with a pre-packed order is a major convenience for today’s busy restaurant professionals who often find themselves short of stock and short on time, according to the company.

Food Authority stocks more than 500 fresh produce items and more than 5,000 beverages, dairy, frozen, grocery and paper products.  Hours of operation for the Food Authority No Hassle Cash & Carry are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays/Sundays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“We wanted to offer local restaurants the convenience of being able to call or fax in their order and pick it up right in the neighborhood, without having to spend time driving to a more distant location and going through the aisles of a huge warehouse and putting together their orders themselves,” says Bob Fitzsimmons, president of Food Authority.  “In light of these rather challenging times, we feel that this type of accommodation will enable our customers to better control their inventories while only purchasing exactly what they need – when they need it – rather than trying to meet the delivery minimums imposed on them by many other distributors.”

Established in 1977, Food Authority is a member of the F.A.B. Inc. and Produce Alliance buying and marketing groups.
