ID News--ProAct issues food security plan guidelines for members

ProAct, a Monterey, CA, based distributor produce marketing group, has issued formalized food security plan guidelines for member companies. Although plans will be tailored to each company's facility, the guidelines require that each member company appoint a director of security responsible for maintaining its plan, which must include employee background checks and photo ID, restricted access to food handling and storage areas, monitoring of the facility's critical control points, and procedures for in-route security of the delivery vehicles.

An independent third-party firm will audit individualized plans at least once a year.
