N.J. may get $15 wage

New Jersey employers may soon be required to pay workers at least $15 an hour, as state Democrats this week unveiled a proposal to raise the minimum wage to that level, the Associated Press reports.

New Jersey is the latest state to consider a $15 wage, joining others such as New York and Florida. A number of cities, including Seattle and Los Angeles, have raised their minimum wage to $15 or higher, or are considering such a move.

Oregon officials recently proposed a two-tiered wage for that state, which would raise the minimum wage to just above $15 for the Portland area and to $13.50 for the rest of the state.
