The New York-based private-equity firm has been acquiring both growth chains and larger concepts, as well as franchisees. It has been in selling mode, too.
Last year, Sentinel acquired quick-service seafood chain Captain D’s. It’s also made investments in a Minnesota Taco Bell operator and owns fast-casual Italian chain Fazoli’s and sandwich chain Newk’s. In recent months, though, it has sold two concepts: Huddle House and Checkers & Rally’s.
The firm targets companies with up to $65 million in EBITDA. And it promises more deals in the future: Sentinel recently closed on a $2.15 billion investment fund.
Sentinel Capital’s Restaurant Holdings totaled $2.4B in U.S. sales in 2017, according to Technomic’s Digital Resource Library.
