Chartwells Introduces Pizza Pizzam! in School Cafeterias

RYE BROOK, NY (October 1, 2012)According to new requirements released by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), students should have at least one serving of grains each day, and one-half of these offerings should be rich in whole grain. In an effort to meet these guidelines while also offering mealtime options that children can be excited about, Chartwells School Dining Services announced the launch of Pizza Pizzam!(TM)

The Pizza Pizzam!(TM) proprietary pizza crust was created by Chartwells culinary chefs and nutrition specialists in an effort to develop innovative and nutritious mealtime option that caters to students' ever-growing, sophisticated tastes. The pizza's whole grain count meets the USDA's two-bread serving requirement, enabling schools to serve Pizza Pizzam!(TM) every day of the week.

"Healthy foods do not have to be plain and tasteless," said Kim Salahie, Director of Culinary Development Chartwells School Dining Services. "We strive to create mealtime options that our students love while also making sure these recipes incorporate fresh and nutritious ingredients in an easy-to-serve format."

Pizza Pizzam!(TM) will be served in Chartwells cafeterias across the U.S. beginning at the beginning of this school year. The pizza will be offered with a variety of toppings that utilize locally grown, fresh produce.
