Food Authority South LLC Expands into Washington D.C.

OCEANSIDE, NY (May 1, 2013)—Food Authority South LLC, a New York-based broadline distributor, has opened a 50,000-square-foot distribution center in Hyattsville, Md., in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

“Our truck fleet provides services for restaurants from Boston to Virginia,” Bob Fitzsimmons, Food Authority’s chief executive officer, said. “We’ve had a presence in this market for more than 20 years, so it was a natural move to begin operating from here too.”

Fitzsimmons will supervise both the New York and Maryland locations.

The facility will allow the wholesaler to better serve foodservice customers with multiple units in the capital city, and in northern Virginia.
