Greene Turtle acquired by PE firm

A controlling interest in the The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille has been acquired by the private-equity firm Stone-Goff Partners for an undisclosed amount.

Greene Turtle consists of 41 franchised and company-operated casual restaurants in Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, New York and the District of Columbia. It has signed deals to expand into Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Stone-Goff indicated that Bob Barry will continue to lead the chain as CEO and president. The New York City-based firm has interests in a number of companies specializing in consumer goods and services.  Greene Turtle is its only holding in the restaurant industry, according to the firm’s website.
