Shula’s Restaurant Group on Thursday named former hotel executive Cody Plott CEO, replacing Bill Freeman.
Plott comes to the role after 22 years with Hyatt Hotels Corp. in Chicago, where he served as vice president of sales and regional vice president, among other positions. He also worked with Airport Group International and with real estate brokerage firm Colliers Seeley. And in 2002, he was named president and COO of Pebble Beach Resorts.
“I’m thrilled to join such a legendary organization at such an exciting time,” Plott said in a statement. “It’s a pleasure and privilege to be taking the helm of such a beloved organization as we charge forward into a new era filled with exciting announcements and new developments while continuing to serve our loyal clientele.”
In addition, Shula’s named chef Jeremy Shelton to the role of executive corporate culinary director, who is tasked with helping to strategize on new business opportunities, approve the creative vision for research and development, manage relations with franchisees and serve aa a spokesperson. Shelton’s experience includes stints at Azul in Miami, Bourbon Steak at JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa, and Buccan in Palm Beach.
Created by legendary NFL coach Don Shula, the restaurant group operates or franchises more than 20 locations in six states within the U.S., including brands across segments from the upscale Prime and Shula’s Steak House to Shula Burger.
In March, the group is scheduled to open a new concept called Don Shula’s American Kitchen at the Hall of Fame Village in Canton.
