McDonald's tests new specialty coffees

Doubling down on its specialty coffee lineup, McDonald’s is testing three new McCafe beverages at select units in Northern California.

The restaurants are debuting a hot and iced caramel macchiato, French vanilla cappuccino and Americano. Participating locations also received new equipment aimed to improve the quality of McDonald’s McCafe offerings overall.

To promote the test items, customers will be able to order them in a small size for $1 during the week of March 20.

The drinks are making their debut at a time when the chain has issued a series of changesto its restaurants in an effort to improve sales, including adding kiosksand offering two different versions of its Big Mac
