Yum! Brands has entrusted the rejuvenation of Pizza Hut’s image in the United States to a new CMO, David Timm, Advertising Age reported Friday.
Timm shifts into the role after polishing KFC’s image as CMO of operations in the United Kingdom. Earlier, he worked on the chicken chain’s messaging in Africa.
Pizza Hut has been without a CMO for domestic operations for several months. The prior holder of the job, Carrie Walsh, resigned to join the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Yum! executives have acknowledged that Pizza Hut is lagging its direct competitors in the U.S. pizza market. Same-store sales for the third quarter were flat. Domino’s comps rose by 10.5 percent for roughly the same timeframe.
