King & Prince Recalls Nova Style Salmon, Other Products Due To Listeria Risks

BRUNSWICK, GA (November 25, 2011)—King & Prince Seafood Corp. has initiated a voluntary recall of Nova Style cold smoked salmon and sable fish lox, salmon sushi fillets and salmon trim because these products could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The products were distributed throughout the U.S. by brokers and food service distributors starting Oct. 4. All products were initially frozen, but may be refrigerated by retailers.

Listeria monocytogenes are organisms that can cause serious and potentially fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly individuals and those with weakened immune systems.  Healthy individuals may experience short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can lead to miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

There have been no reports of illness in connection with these recalled products.

All questions about the recall should be directed to Carol T. Hastings, 912-261-7030 or chastings@kpseafood.com, or King & Prince at 360-733-9090.

For customer service, call 800-632-5464 from 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST Monday through Friday or email nova@kpseafood.com for a product return authorization.
