Dave & Buster’s on Monday announced Brandon Coleman III as its senior vice president and chief marketing officer.

Coleman, previously president of Del Frisco’s Grille, succeeds Sean Gleason. Gleason, who has held the post for 11 years, will continue with the eatertainment chain as an adviser until April 30.

Coleman has also worked as CMO of Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group.

“He brings valuable expertise and a proven track record of success implementing research-driven marketing strategies across a variety of concepts,” CEO Brian Jenkins said in a statement. “Guest engagement, loyalty and brand recognition are central tenets of our strategy, and I am confident in Brandon’s ability to drive innovation and advance our ongoing marketing initiatives.”

Dallas-based Dave & Buster’s operates 136 eatertainment units in North America. The chain has struggled recently, blaming increased competition for its declining same-store sales. Its stock price got a bump last month on news that global investment firm KKR & Co. had taken an activist position in the company and that it was discussing ongoing business strategy with corporate management.

That drop reflected a net loss of about 9,500 restaurant locations due to an increasingly challenging operating environment. Chain restaurants, however, fared a bit better.
