Papa John’s on Friday said it has promoted Amanda Clark to chief international and development officer.
Clark had been the chief development officer. She will now head international strategy in addition to her oversight of the pizza chain’s development efforts.
She was named to the position following the retirement of Jack Swaysland, who had been chief operating officer, international.
Liz Williams, meanwhile, was named chief international operations officer. She will report to Clark and effectively assume Swaysland’s role overseeing Papa John’s international markets.
Clark joined Papa John’s in 2020 after eight years at Taco Bell. She has been credited with reinvigorating Papa John’s development, helping it kickstart growth for the first time in years. That includes in international markets, where the brand announced a 1,350-unit deal with FountainVest Partners.
“Amanda and her team have been a significant driver of the growth of Papa John’s over the past year,” CEO Rob Lynch said in a statement.
Williams joined Papa John’s in 2018 as managing director for the brand in the United Kingdom, the company’s largest market outside the U.S. She was later promoted to managing director of the U.K. and Major Markets, leading some of the other largest markets in the world. “Liz has been a great asset to Papa John’s and has led our largest international markets as well as our U.K. Quality Control Center during one of the most challenging operating environments in history,” Lynch said.
Clark and Williams’ appointments are effective on May 2. Swaysland will support the transition through the end of the year.
