K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen, New Orleans
Celebrity chef Paul Prudhomme and his wife, Kay, opened K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen in New Orleans in 1979, beginning as a 62-seat restaurant in the French Quarter. It later grew to seat more than 200 diners and regularly drew lines.
After Paul Prudhomme’s death in 2015, his family continued to run the establishment.
“The difficult decision to shut down the restaurant came after repeated closings this year due to mandated business restrictions,” the owners said in a statement. “We have been blessed and honored to serve our customers who have become family through shared stories, breaking bread with jalapeno cheddar yeast rolls and raised martini glasses.”
