Hilton Hotels exec joins Focus Brands' board

Phil Cordell, who has led both the Hampton Inn and Hilton Garden Inn brands, joins the Atlanta-based multi-brand franchise company's board of directors in an expansion.

Focus Brands, the Atlanta-based parent of Auntie Anne’s, Carvel, Cinnabon, McAlister’s Deli and more, has a new board member.

Phil Cordell has joined the board, effective in January. Cordell is described as a franchise veteran who is currently the global category head of lifestyle and new brands at Hilton Hotels, where he has led both the Hampton Inn and Hilton Garden Inn brands.

“Throughout Phil’s tenure with Hilton Hotels, he has worked across multiple brands and helped to drive a strong culture of excellence,” said Jim Holthouser, Focus Brands’ CEO, in a statement. “He brings a unique perspective to our brands and our company, and as we continue to evolve and grow our iconic brands, I have no doubt Phil will valuably contribute to our future success.”

Focus Brands’ platform also includes Moe’s Southwest Grill and Schlotzsky’s. The portfolio includes more than 6,600 mostly franchised restaurants with outlets in all 50 states across the U.S. and 60 countries and territories.
