Wendy’s changes 4-for-$4 formula

Wendy’s is adding a new menu item to its 4-for-$4 value deal, giving customers some room for customization in what was previously a preset meal.

Customers will now have the choice between a crispy chicken BLT and a small bacon cheeseburger when ordering the 4-for-$4 deal, Wendy’s said. The meal also includes four chicken nuggets, small fries and a small drink.

“When Wendy’s introduced the 4 for $4 Meal, people told us it was the ‘best invention since the sun,’” Kurt Kane, Wendy’s chief marketing and concept officer, said in a statement. “That’s hard to beat, but that’s exactly what we’ve done with the addition of the Crispy Chicken BLT to our 4 for $4 lineup.”

Wendy’s rolled out its 4-for-$4 meal in October, an early entry in the QSR segment’s recent value wars, which have spawned a slew of meal deals from competing chains.
