Not to be confused with National Pasta Day in October, National Spaghetti Day homes in on one of Italy’s classic dishes. In the past, Noodles and Co. has on this day offered a free small bowl of spaghetti with the purchase of an entree, and Fazoli’s has celebrated the occasion by giving a free dish of spaghetti to customers who buy a medium drink.
With many schools and businesses closed on this day, operators can make the most of the extra foot traffic by offering discounts on Martin Luther King Jr. Day itself or all weekend long.
The average American consumes about 35 pounds of cheese per year, Bloomberg reports. Operators can take advantage of consumers’ cheese love with a variety of cheese-themed deals. Last year, On The Border offered guests a free cup of queso, while Indigo Grill in San Diego extended the celebration with $10 quesadillas all week long.

The Maitland, Florida-based Tex-Mex chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after closing 40 restaurants this year. It has an agreement to sell the company.
