Tucson, Ariz.-based Tumerico took the No. 1 spot on Yelp's 2024 Top 100 Places to Eat list.

It’s a big year for restaurants specializing in Asian cuisine, at least according to Yelp’s 2024 Top 100 Places to Eat in the United States list released Tuesday.

One quarter of the independent restaurants on the list serve Asian, Asian fusion or Southeast Asian, the review site noted.

The No. 1 spot on the list, though, Tucson, Ariz.’s Tumerico, specializes in vegetarian Latin food created by chef-owner Wendy Garcia, a James Beard Award semi-finalist. It has five stars and more than 1,000 Yelp reviews.

“Yelpers regularly keep an eye on the chalkboard menu that changes daily based on seasonal availability, such as salsa made from Tucson-grown chiltepin chiles and pitaya (Mexican dragon fruit) or nopalitos (made from prickly pear cactus),” Yelp said in its announcement.

This is the 11th annual such ranking from Yelp. The list is based on Yelp ratings, the number of reviews received for an establishment and input from Yelp’s community managers.

Restaurants in California, Florida, Arizona, Texas and Nevada led the ranking, with a variety of cuisines represented. California had the most restaurants on the list, at 18, followed by Florida, with 13.

“This year’s list embraces the unique tastes of our users and spotlights the beloved hidden gems across local communities,” Tara Lewis, Yelp’s trend expert, said in a statement.

More than 85% of the restaurants on Yelp’s list are priced at less than $30 per person.
